Teaching English in Uganda
Uganda
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: All Year Round
Description:
Global Crossroad's volunteer, English-teaching program in Uganda helps local children and orphans to learn the useful language of English. With numerous tourism attractions in surrounding areas (i.e. safari opportunities in Uganda as well as in Tanzania and Kenya ), English-speaking Ugandans are becoming in-demand resources. Helping to improve these children's conversational English paves a road for a brighter future - instilling in them a working command of the English language as well as helping them to compete within the global market.
Highlights:
Volunteer English-teachers teach approximately 2-3 hours a day six (6) days a week. While the school already has its own English-teachers, volunteers provide much-needed assistance to these already-existing teachers. Areas of assistance include introducing/implementing teaching methods, offering advice on solving communication barriers, and providing suitable curricula for the classroom.
