Duration of Program: 9-12 weeks

Description:
The secondary schools are located in larger communities, towns or cities. These schools for 12-19 year olds are really big with 1000 - 4000 students. Almost all of these schools are co-education. Each school has a foreign language department. English is the main language offered but some of these schools also offer French, German, Italian languages.
Highlights:
The English teaching volunteers in secondary schools can also teach other languages in addition to English depending upon the school. There can be about 10 teachers in the foreign language department; however, only 1-2 teachers may speak good English. Others just translate the stories, and teach grammar/structural English. Therefore, there is a lack of conversational English. The presence of native English speaking volunteers will create conducive environment for the children to learn and speak in English. Volunteers will work for 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday.
