Description:
An orphanage and homeopathic clinic run by an energetic American woman who has been living in India for many years. Work may include gardening, teaching, tutoring, cooking, playing and singing with the kids, working on small construction projects, helping them with their laundry and bathing, organizing the volunteer program, coordinating with fundraising overseas or visiting nearby villages to teach hygiene, art, etc.
Highlights:
The orphanage also owns a Retreat center in the mountains. Mid-May through July the children stay at this campus in order to escape the heat. Secluded area with beautiful scenery where this school grows it's own food. About 50 kids stay at the orphanage aged 5-18. Some have families still living that they visit on holidays and some are true orphans with no connections outside the orphanage. The younger kids also go to school on the property; where as the older kids attend the local school.
Qualifications:
Minimum age: 18 years/ Mature/ Self-motivated/ Physically able/ Emotionally prepared to work in a difficult setting (It can be difficult living and working with orphans and hearing their stories over time, so volunteers must be prepared for some of the difficulties inherent in this kind of work.)

Cost Include Description:
The $750 is a one time fee that includes the internship placement, pre-departure orientation and reliable in-country resources.After having worked at the orphanage for four months, volunteers can have their room and board provided free of charge in exchange for their time.

Typical Volunteer: Typically our volunteers are gap year students aged 17-25. Volunteers placed by our organization are eager, outgoing, take initiative and are dedicated to international and local service work. Our volunteer placements are geared towards the backpacker traveling lifestyle.
