Description:
Opportunities to volunteer at a unique school that offers free education to approximately 400 underpriveleged children in northern India. The school is a unique experiment in education inspired by two Tibetan spiritual teachers. It synthesizes Buddhist teachings with transpersonal psychology and modern progressive educational methods. Teaching and administrative volunteers are welcome any time for a minimum of one month.
Highlights:
The school has 300 day students and 100 evening students who are day laborers or street children. The School curriculum includes Hindi, English, Science, Math, etc., and also includes meditation, hatha yoga, music, massage, philosophy, emotional literacy, ecology, mythology, martial arts, astrology, and other non-traditional subjects. As for the locations of the schools, Sarnath is known for the place in which the Buddha gave his first teaching and Bodhgaya is where the Buddha reached enlightenment.

17 years of age/ 4 week minimum commitment

Cost in US$: $750 plus $168 per month for R&B plus travel expenses
Cost Include Description:
The $750 is a one time fee that includes the internship placement, pre-departure orientation and reliable in-country resources. The $168 is for R&B at the school. Volunteers can also stay at a homestay for approximately $300 a month for room and board.

Typical Volunteer: Typically our volunteers are gap year students aged 17-25. Volunteers placed by our organization are eager, outgoing, take initiative and are dedicated to international and local service work. Our volunteer placements are geared towards the backpacker traveling lifestyle.
