Volunteering with children in an orphanage is the most rewarding experience for volunteers. Volunteers work alongside the existing staff to care for the children in orphanages. The work in a childrens home involves feeding, dressing and keeping the children active within the homes. Other tasks are to clean and tidy the homes as well as cooking. If you choose to do volunteer work in orphanages, you need to be adaptable, flexible and prepared to face and hear heartbreaking stories of the children's backgrounds. Volunteers will also be assisting local staff and caretakers in daily work to help them run the orphanage in a better way. You can also assist in the office of the orphanage if you think you can contribute to make them more organized and run in a more efficient manner. Volunteers normally teach the kids, play with them, prepare their daily records, Get involved in preparing their dishes, help in washing their cloth and some administrative work also. They also at time attends meeting on behalf of the orphanage. Volunteer in Kenya - the land of culture, good people and breathtaking safaris! It is indeed one of the best countries in Africa. Kenya is bordered in the north by Sudan and Ethiopia, in the east by Somalia, on the southeast by the Indian Ocean, on the southwest by Tanzania and to the west by Lake Victoria and Uganda. Kenya is notable for its' geographical variety. The low-lying, fertile coastal region, fringed with coral reefs and islands, is back by a gradually rising coastal plain, a dry region covered with savanna and thorn bush. Kenya has more than 40 different tribes, having their own languages and cultures. With more than 1/10th of the land which is dedicated to parks and wildlife it is a true mix of diverse culture and loving animals.
Highlights:
Your Role in the Program. Volunteers work in orphanages, playing, teaching, doing activities like art and craft, teaching sports etc. Volunteers also work with local staff to assist in daily work. Skills and Educational Requirements. There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. People should be patient, committed and willing to learn. Project Location. The programs take place in and around Nairobi the capital of Kenya, N Gong ( Country Side close to Nairobi ) and Mombasa. Fact file What we provide - Airport Receive/ Transfer: Our representative will greet you at the airport and will transfer you to your hotel/placement/home stay. - Orientation: A half day orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc. Each participant will be provided with a local Map of the city. o - Lodging: Almost all placements have residential accommodation arrangements, however if that is not available volunteers will be staying with a local welcoming and educated family. - Food: 3 meals will be provided in this project depending on accommodation type. - Insurance: All participants are covered for full comprehensive travel and medical insurance for their time of stay in our project. - In Country travel assistance: If participants like to travel around, we provide with full support for bookings & arrangements to travel within the country. - In-country support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff. - Pre-departure information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program.
