Volunteer Teach in Koh Kong, Cambodia
Cambodia
Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks and 3-6 months
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: year round
Description:
Volunteer in a lovely, unspoiled area of South East Asia that most tourists never get the chance to see, at some of the most affordable fees available. Koh Kong is the coastal southwestern-most province of Cambodia; it claims an undeveloped and uninhabited coastline along the Gulf of Thailand as well as a shared border with Thailand. Our volunteer program is located in the provincial capital of the same name; it is a sleepy yet picturesque town which is still largely untouched by the western world. The town itself sits on the banks of the Kah Bpow River which flows directly into the Gulf. Nearby one can easily access the beaches of Koh Kong Island, plenty of waterfalls, nature and wildlife reserves, and the Cardamom Mountains. This is a brand new project for Travel to Teach. In the beginning this will focus on English teaching but plans to expand into environmental conservation, eco-tourism, and community work in the near future. Our volunteers will be teaching in Salat Titumphet Primary School. Salat Titumphet is the provincial school for the Koh Kong Province and is situated in the town. It is an extremely large school with 1,858 students at last count. Volunteers will be conducting English classes for the students and the teachers and will be conducting their own classes and sometimes assisting the Khmer teachers.
