GVI has teamed up with one of Mexico's most well respected PADI Course Director's to combine world class dive training with GVI's marine conservation training giving graduates a unique course useful for a career in the dive industry or just for fun and experience underwater. Our professional dive courses, which follow the PADI course structure, are an educational adventure leading to globally respected qualifications and employment opportunities worldwide. We currently offer three courses: 1. PADI Advanced (or equivalent) to PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in 12 weeks. 2. PADI Open Water Diver to PADI Divemaster in 6/8 weeks (dependent upon the work placement option) 3. For those already at Divemaster or higher levels shorter PADI Instructor Development courses are also available. You are going to be doing the majority of your dive training in the magnificent environs on the tropical Caribbean island of Cozumel. Renowned the world over for its incredible dive sites, Cozumel is without doubt one of the planets greatest dive locations. Cozumel in Mayan, means "Land of the Swallows". Cozumel is Mexico's largest island and located just 20 kilometres off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsular. Cozumel measures 45 kilometres long and 16 kilometres wide. The climate is sub-tropical and the people native to Cozumel are of Mayan descent. Cozumel itself was a sleepy little fishing community until 1961, when a Frenchman, one Jacques Cousteau, declared Cozumel one of the most beautiful scuba diving areas of the world. Since then Cozumel has become an underwater marine park and many efforts are underway to preserve the delicate balance of dazzling coral reefs and the abundant variety of tropical fish that call them home. A renowned feature of Cozumel diving is the water clarity and depending on the season and weather divers can enjoy 30 60 metre visibility.
