A number of programmes are on offer, which can take you to various levels in the PADI professional structure and offer you credentials in first aid and oxygen training as well during the programmes. All participants also have the option to reach the level of Emergency First Response Instructor. Options of gaining work experience in real dive operations after the level of Dive master also exist and are detailed in "what's included" and the "departure dates and contributions" sections. Global Vision International will also assist course participants in attaining paid work placements after their courses and provide information on the myriad of possibilities for work that exist in the ever-growing dive industry. Attaining professional dive qualifications presents the opportunity to live and work in many countries around the globe, follow the sun and turn a fascinating pastime into a lucrative profession. Being a dive professional also carries a lot of responsibility and GVI's programmes are focused on helping candidates excel and gain confidence. Today's dive professionals are increasingly becoming ambassadors for conservation in our oceans, seas and also the wider world. For this reason and in keeping with GVI's ethos in all it's programmes, formal lessons will be given by marine scientists on topics such as species identification and the threats our reefs currently face. All candidates will also do the GVI/PADI Coral Reef Research Distinctive Speciality. We currently offer a number of PADI Dive courses including: 1. PADI Open Water Diver to PADI Divemaster in 6/8 weeks (dependent upon the work placement option) 2. PADI Advanced (or equivalent) to PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in 12 weeks. 3. For those already at Divemaster or higher levels shorter PADI Instructor Development courses are also available. 4. Customized shorter courses from Open Water or Advanced, through to Advanced, Rescue and Master Scuba Diver with a number of optional specialties. 5. Cavern, Intro to Cave and Full Cave Diving Courses
Highlights:
GVI is very well known for it's valued work in the fields of conservation, capacity building and environmental education on over 60 projects and expeditions in over 35 countries around the globe. GVI through it's marine research projects in various parts of the world has isolated a need for further education of these issues in today's diving community. To provide courses that not only help candidates obtain the most sought after qualifications for today's dive professional but also an orientation to the conservation issues we are all facing GVI has begun offering courses through it's own Dive Academy. As well as qualifications in all the courses listed above graduates will receive lessons, lectures and support materials on topics such as; fish species identification; coral species identification; threats to the reef, mangroves and coastal habitats; oceanography, marine monitoring and data recording techniques and more. These theory modules will be re-enforced by actual dives where candidates will learn to identify species and underwater topography and practice data recording. Increasingly many potential employers in the dive industry are looking for instructors who can do more than just instruct and have a knowledge of the marine environment that extends beyond what the average instructor has. Becoming a divemaster or instructor through the GVI Dive Academy will give you that knowledge and importantly teach you how to develop it further. Note: Due to the "IDC only" shorter course timeframe conservation and science training will not be included. Where possible staff will provide information and materials to help candidates develop their knowledge in these areas.
