Description: The aim of this organization is to give aid and support to children from impoverished backgrounds living in and around the area. Bruce Peru is a private non-profit organization working to make education a reality for all children in Peru. They provide a caring and safe environment for children to grow to their fullest potential.
In order for their projects to succeed and be permanent in Peru, they require volunteers as well as the support from the community. Their goal is to function independently and to be self sufficient and this can only be accomplished if the people, institutes, government and companies of Cusco help them.

Highlights: Volunteers are needed to
1. To take care of children, including teaching in classes and helping to feed, play and befriend the children in the center
2. Prepare lessons for the classes, etc.
3. Teach English to adults (evening hours),organise activities of a wide ranging nature.
They welcome new ideas to make their projects more effective for the children.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to cope with big groups of street children demanding a lot of attention and enthusiasm. You will have to be be part of a team, working together with Peruvian and International volunteers. People who are not flexible and that are not able to work under less than ideal conditions may have difficulty at this placement.

Cost in US$: $2775 for 8 weeks; $165 for each additional week

Typical Volunteer: We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries
