Description: The Natural Protected Areas Administration of the Natural Resources Institute (INRENA), part of the Ministry of Agriculture, is responsible for the administration and management of the protected areas system. Its policies are based on the Natural Protected Areas Law and related regulations. INRENA is represented throughout the country and has received recognition by the sectors involved in natural resource management and nature protection. "La Torre" Park Ranger station needs volunteers to teach and train their personnel in English. Also to assist them in their daily patrol into the forest.

Highlights: Volunteers will help the Park Rangers in carrying water in buckets from the Madre de Dios river into the Station as their pump engine is broken now. They are also needed to help teach English to the Park Rangers, control the growing of exotic plants and doing reports that have to be transferred to the Office .

Qualifications: Volunteers should have the flexibility to adapt to a totally new world, living in the middle of the wild jungle. Volunteers who want to contribute with their knowledge on biology, environmental sciences, etc.

Cost in US$: $1850 for 4 weeks; $165 for each additional week

Typical Volunteer: We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
