Description:
National Family Welfare Institution. INABIF is the main public institution in charge of abandoned children, kids in process of adoption, teenager mothers, street kids, etc. Their role is to improve the life quality of the kids in risk. Jesus mi Luz has just one nurse (male) who has to take care of the boys at this home and share his job with visits (twice a week) to the home for girls (Hogar Buen Pastor). So he needs volunteers to help him in running the Health Post located in both homes.
Highlights:
Volunteers will help assist the nurse in his activities between the Home Jesus Mi Luz and Hogar Buen Pastor. They will also help the nurse in his day to day medical activities such as weighing, measuring height and taking care of the children.
Qualifications:
A volunteer who is a Medical student, a graduated Doctor, a graduated or student of nursery or an Emergency Medical Technician are greatly needed. Volunteers should be willing to interact with kids, to be flexible to adapt to a totally new culture and being very patient with children. Hogar Jesus Mi Luz needs volunteers with a high sense of commitment, volunteers willing to respect an take seriously the assigned tasks and respecting the proposed schedule. Those who can not do this may have a difficult time at this placement.

Cost Include Description:
Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one week of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. A the end of that week, you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.

Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries
