Work at an Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka

Description: Volunteers will work in an Elephant Orphanage where elephants are kept and treated for any ailments, feeding and taking good care of them. The orphanage has run this successful program for more than 20 years. Volunteers get a chance to see elephants up and close working in tandem with the local authorities. Volunteers help in cleaning work in animal/ elephant enclosures, keep elephants environment clean ( muck out living area ), cleaning of the garden and assisting in landscape work, load orphanage's garbage & debris, assistance in behavioral enrichment programs under supervision of the Mahouts you might be asked to help bathe the elephants in the river. Volunteers may also help vet doctors if needed.

Cost in US$: $850 for 2 weeks

Orientation: A day long orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc. Each participant will be provided with a local Map of the city.

Lodging: Almost all placements have residential accommodation arrangements, however if that is not available volunteers will be staying with a local welcoming and educated family or in a guest house near by.

Food: 3 local meals will be provided in this project.

Insurance: All participants are covered for full comprehensive travel and medical insurance for their time of stay in our project. Please find details here.

In-Country travel assistance: If participants like to travel around, we provide with full support for bookings & arrangements to travel within Vietnam.

In-country support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff.

Pre-departure information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program.
