Restoration of a former train station in the heart of the Drome hills

  France
    Valence

Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: June 22 - July 12

Description: The town already hosted international volunteer projects. They were aimed at the embellishment of the village. The volunteers left good memories, and it is therefore without hesitation that the municipality renewed this experience. Very strong and notable moments took place, with the children of the school, to whom the volunteers talked about their countries.

Guided by a municipal employee, the volunteers will work on the restoration of a former train station, removing former plaster and replastering according to traditional methods.

Possible free time activities: Excursion to Romans with a visit of the shoe museum and of the old town; discover the towns of St Donat sur lHerbasse, Hauterives (the Facteur Cheval palace), Tain lHermitage (cooperative cellar, chocolate factory), of St Marcellin, of St Antoine lAbbaye en Isère; sport (hikes, football, swimming), lake of Chambos; excursion to discover the Vercors; meeting with other workcamps.

Project location: At the heart of the Drôme des Collines, between Vercors and Coteaux Ardéchois, between Romans and Tain lHermitage and 20 km north of Valence, you will find Clérieux, a farmers village, that also had a rich industrial past with its grinding and its factory of fabrics. Its medieval past has left ramparts and a castle. Today, this dynamic town of 2,000 inhabitants, who participate in many associations activities, enjoys a huge demographic growth.
