Description:
Do something different - make a difference: Experience the journey of a lifetime, as you join the Different Travel Canoe Safari and Community Challenge in Zambia. First, experience a five day waterborne safari, as you canoe down the Zambezi River, spotting wild game as you go! Then head north to Ndola, to help on a project to improve facilities at a school for disadvantaged children. Finally, you can opt to extend your trip to visit the breathtaking Victoria Falls the planet's largest curtain of water, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. For more itinerary information, please send us an email. The Project Working at the Hands of Compassion Community Centre in the Chipulukusu Squatter township near Ndola, you will be working on a range of refurbishment and construction projects at this centre which provides essential care to children in an area ravaged by HIV/AIDS, poverty and malnutrition. The Chipulukusu township is home to 60,000 people who have no official place of residence, and live in basic mud huts. The community centre and school offers education to 500 children a great many of whom are orphans, having lost parents to HIV/AIDS. The centre also trains up local women to act as 'guardians' to the children, giving them life and employment skills. The school also has a skills training centre, where local youths are taught vocational skills, such as carpentry, thus ensuring they have more opportunities for the future. For more project information, please contact us.
