Volunteer / Intern in Music in Argentina
Argentina
- All Other Regions of Argentina:
Mendoza
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer, Throughout the year, Winter
Dates: Rolling Admissions the 5th of each month
Description:
Our music internship is a unique experience that focuses on the "international language of music." Participants are immersed in the vibrant Argentine culture as they learn and use digital recording technology, work on their own music projects, collaborate musically with Argentines, make new friends, learn Spanish, and help the children of Mendoza by working on volunteer projects. Students take 2 weeks of intensive Spanish courses at The Language Institute. The Language Institute is a great place to meet friends from all over the world. Students have to option to stay with host families in Mendoza where they are able to learn first-hand ablout the Argentine culture and improve their Spanish. During the home-stay, students will continue working on music projects and volunteering. Our volunteers work at a home for children with malnutrition, an orphanage, and an elementary school.
Highlights:
Mendoza with its vibrant, friendly people and colorful culture is a highlight that is experienced on a daily basis. Making relationships with the people of Argentina is the most profound highlight of the experience. For some participants, it will be helping children learn English. For others, the musical and artistic collaboration with the locals is the most inspiring highlight of the experience. Others are most inspired the neighboring snow-covered Andes Mountains and their hikes in the high country. Most of all our participants leave us as better musicians with a better appreciation and understanding of their potentials as musicians and as individuals.
Qualifications:
All participants must posess a strong interest in music and be willing to collaborate with local Argentine musicians and children in the production of recorded music. Prior musical experience and ability is a plus but is not required. Participants must be eager to learn mobile digital recording technology as well as work on their own song-writing and production skills. No prior Spanish language ability is required but all participants must be willing to attend Spanish language classes and take part in all of our other volunteer projects.
