Duration of Program: 9-12 weeks

Description: Participants will work in rural communities in Chile. Volunteers will assist one or more current residential English teachers at their prospective school and teach English to a class of 40-45 students. Volunteers will work with half of the class while the resident English teacher will work with the other half. In addition, volunteers are responsible for the development of extracurricular activities such as after-school English clubs, art projects, science, and sports clubs. Volunteers will work 25 hours a week in the classroom, with the focus on improving the students' listening and speaking skills, and they will prepare lesson plans and activities that encourage language production such as dialogues, games, pronunciation activities, debates, role playing, and conversation groups. Volunteers can expect to work 10 additional hours a week collaborating with Chilean EFL teachers for the planning and the development of extracurricular activities

Chile Summer English Teaching Program

Highlights: TEFL Institute and the National Volunteer Center of the Chile Ministry of Education have partnered to offer this summer program. The program is geared to college students and college graduates who would like to spend the summer teaching English in Chile. In this program you will receive total immersion in the culture, language, and customs of the country.

Qualifications:
* Ideal Participants are between the ages of 18-35
* Particpants must possess a BA/BS or currently be enrolled in
   college/university
