Length of Position: 6 months

Description: The job includes communicating with our customers; but, more importantly trying to generate new business by updating and improving our past methods and brainstorming new ones. Responsiblities will include, but are not limited to: updating the website, creating new promotions, design and print brochures, travel packages, co-ops with travel agents, communicate with other hostels in the DR, manage the emails/ databases, and AND whatever you come up with! Must know at least basic Spanish. This is a busy position in a beautiful environment.

A short background about the place: It's been in business for the past 14 years, and is run by an American (Marshall). He and his wife and daughter live in the main building where you will be working. It's located in a gorgeous area of mountains and rivers, yet almost undiscovered by tourists (an advantage and disadvantage for us).

The ranch itself has its points of strength (the beautiful scenery, the excellent tours), but a lot of weaknesses as well which prevents it from being the successful business that it could be. Most of them stem from being unorganized. The most important qualities are being organized, being able to work independently and creativily (come up with new promoting and marketing ideas to make the business more successfull), and patience.

* Going on our excursions complimentary: Whitewater kayaking on the Rio Yuna, our facilities zip line, hiking in the mountains, horseback riding, camping on Pico Duarte, and learning about life in a small mountain village with plenty of colmados, meringue and a nearby discotheque.
* Santo Domingo is 1.15hrs away, Santiago 45min.

Qualifications:
Must have:
* Basic knowledge in Marketing / Tourism industry
* Basic knowledge of Spanish
* Computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office programs
* Experience in the DR a plus
* Must be creative, independent, and full of ideas!
* Accepting living at ranch (not a 5 star hotel) with basic amenities

Salary / Pay: This position is volunteer. You get room, board, internet, phone and laundry. There's no pay but all your needs are taken care of, and you live in this beautiful place. It's a great way to live somewhere different and just have a great experience for no charge!
