European Voluntary Service (EVS)
Description:
Want to get involved in international development and the fight against HIV/Aids? Or do you prefer to work with the elderly and offer them care and support? Want to experience a different culture? Able to devote your time and energy to working with disadvantages groups across Europe? ICYE-UK is looking for motivated and open-minded candidates to fill a diverse range of fully funded volunteering opportunities with NGOs and community organisations throughout Europe, including Bosnia - Herzegovina, Italy Montenegro, Serbia and Spain. Placements range from working in the HIV/Aids education and prevention sector, to working with young children or the elderly and many more besides. Nine-month placements run from March '08 to December '08, and offer excellent opportunities for volunteers to gain experience in the International Development sector. Applicants must be aged 18-30 and EU citizens. Enthusiasm and an interest in their chosen subject area is a must! Qualifications:
Experience in the sector would be an advantage as would language skills, but enthusiasm and an interest in the subject is more important.

The organisation has consultative status with UNESCO and works in partnership with the European Commission's 'Youth for Europe' Programme, the Council of Europe and Mobility International. In addition ICYE has been recognised as an 'International Peace Messenger' by the United Nations General Assembly.
