Kenya
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Description:
Building, Conservation Work Sharing extraordinary moments with the local villagers and your companions in Kenya is life changing. We offer you uniquely rewarding life experiences, and a chance to give something back to a community that needs your help. In Kenya you will work as part of a volunteer team building a village school or health centre along with other conservation projects. The project work is varied and includes construction work on the local school, teaching, agricultural work, power and water systems and building of sports facilities. Conservation projects work closely with the Kenya Wildlife Service and include marine parks, Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary and a colobus monkey sanctuary. Local tradesmen and wildlife professionals are employed to facilitate the projects. You will work alongside these professionals, gaining new skills while contributing to the overall standard of living of the local community.
Highlights:
Volunteers live in safari-style tents in a purpose built camp located just 4 km from the Indian Ocean and its stunning beaches. The tents have been designed specifically to suit the camp requirements by an expert safari company. Special attention has been paid to the environmental and climatic considerations. The tents are light, airy, cool and fully netted to reduce mosquito or insect risk. This is a program that suits family groups as well as solo travellers. Programs vary in length from 2-4 weeks and include a safari in a Kenyan national park, as well as fun adventure activities such as trekking, scuba diving, jet-skiing and kite surfing.
