Description:
Based in the stunningly beautiful Krabi Province of Thailand, this 20 week internship program will provide you with both professional qualifications and practical teaching experience, as well as opening the door to future work opportunities in South East Asia. Starting with a 10 week training course you will complete a 100 hour TEFL (teach English as a foreign language) certification run in conjunction with practical teaching experience. At the end of this ten week phase you will embark on a further 10 weeks of practical teaching with Global Vision International partners in Thailand, Laos or Cambodia. GVI offers a job placement service to all GVI TEFL graduates, to help you find paid positions in the TEFL Industry. Training Includes: - 100 hours of TEFL Training/Certification - Classroom teaching experience - Curriculum development and lesson planning - Resource making - Report writing and public speaking experience - First Aid & CPR training (certification optional) - Basic Thai Language - Intro to Thai culture including cooking and religion - Environmental education and community development - Interpersonal skills - Leadership Skills The training base is located in the Krabi Province, close to a number of natural attractions including mountains, waterfalls, caves, mangroves and white-sand beaches. The base has running water, electricity, a basic kitchen, a communal area, a small library and dorm-room accommodations with bunk beds. The TEFL training will take place on base, and the English Language lessons and other presentations will principally be conducted at the local community center.
Highlights:
Participating in a 100-hour TEFL course, as desired; immersing yourself in a traditional Thai community within a beautiful tropical paradise; living and working alongside local people, experiencing their culture, food and way of life; assisting in both child and adult environmental education and awareness programs, visiting and teaching within the local schools, hotels, GVI base and in the open environment; learning how to cook a number of tasty Thai dishes, including some regional favourites; going on an exciting trip to Wat Tham Seua (the Tiger Cave Temple) - a forest monastery built upon a karst cliff with stunning views; and visiting prime turtle nesting beaches.
Qualifications:
- TEFL/TESOL Certification GVI's TEFL/TESOL program is recognized as both a teacher training ground and a provider of quality English classes to local people. GVI is listed as an Institutional Member of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) and is a Member of the College of Teachers (CoT). - TEFL Job Placement Service GVI offers a job placement service to help expedition members find paid positions in the TEFL industry once their certification is complete. - College Credit Colleges throughout North America have granted college credit for GVI TEFL programs. Consult the College Credit page in the Resources section of the GVI website for more information. - Internships By participating in a 10 week expedition you will be eligible to apply for a field Internship with GVI.
