Description: This special population requires a lot of extra help, as it is sometimes difficult to give specific attention to all the students. The school is looking for volunteers to act as classroom assistants, helping the teachers.

They currently have 357 students, and can always use extra help coordinating extra-curricular programs, or teaching academic subjects. Also, a volunteer who could teach computer skills would be very useful.

There are 357 students at the school, ranging from age 6 to 22.

School day runs 8am-2pm, but the hours are flexible depending on the volunteer.

Qualifications: * Willingness to work with children. Knowing sign language would be an asset, but is not essential.
* Compassionate, self-motivated/directed, willingness to learn
* Not suitable for people who are uncomfortable working with populations with disabilities, or working with children

Cost in US$: $2250 USD for 8 week duration, $135 each additional week

Typical Volunteer: We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
