Description:
Volunteers are needed at this school to teach and to help prepare activities for children before and after school. The school is short-staffed and really need additional help in all areas. Not only is the help from volunteers beneficial but the staff and students are very interested in learning about other people and cultures from around the world.
Highlights:
Volunteers will be able to partake in a number of different activities. During the school hours volunteers can prepare lesson plans, teach English, math, science or music lessons. They will also have the opportunity to set up lunchtime or extra-curricular activities. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to help prepare lesson plans, lunches and conduct music lessons. Other potential jobs include: coaching sports, setting up activities or games, tutoring and assisting with maintenance jobs. Helping with sports or games and helping with beautification of the compound. 250 Students 30 KG students (3years to 6 years) 150 Primary students(6 to 12 years) 120 JSS students(13 to 16 years) 4 KG Staff (all females) 6 Primary Staff (2 females and 4 males) 5 JSS teachers (all males)
Qualifications:
Essential background or skills include: basic teaching skills, good communication skills and willing to be flexible. The most important personality trait for a volunteer to have is have a friendly and social disposition.
Cost in US$: $2250 USD for 8 week duration, $135 each additional week

Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support.
Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
