Description:
We are looking for volunteers with a degree or experience in IT to work on our Information and Communication project. As an IT expert at Casa do Caminho you will have the following key responsibilities: * Maintain the IT infrastructure of three different houses (orphanage and teenager houses)
* Extent and improve the existing IT project
* Develop new ideas to optimize the means of communication of Casa do Caminho, i.e. set up a Voice over IP project Besides your key responsibilities, new projects are always welcome to be set up! More details on the exact project: The Casa do Caminho's orphanage main concern is communication and education. Children and teenagers of both Casa do Caminho and the community is isolated in a rural area where they have no idea about the outside world. The long-term effect is that they will lack fundamental skills required for employment and therefore potentially cannot compete for a reasonable wage to ensure their future security. We therefore want to offer PC and Internet education for the children, teenagers and local community. We believe that attracting PC's and Internet can be an incredible step forward for Education, Communication, Management and Fundraising. Ross, our ICT expert has prepared 2 PC rooms at our orphanage and teenage house. We need someone to continue his fantastic project. Sponsors have made close to 3000 USD available to implement the project and are expecting various donations of pc materials.

Qualifications:
We are looking for ICT expert who is capable of: * Installing and maintaining PC's
* Teaching children, teenagers and staff IT
* Developing databases to improve administration and management
* Supporting our web designer in building an interactive website
* Speaks at least basic Portuguese
* 6 months - 2 years volunteer period

Comunidade Rural Casa do Caminho's Mission Statement: Casa do Caminho is an orphanage situated in the middle of the Tingua rainforest, outside of Rio de Janeiro. Casa do Caminho aims to take the children away from aggression, drugs & criminality in Rio de Janeiro and surrounding suburbs. In the orphanage Casa do Caminho provides children with shelter, health care, education and a lot of freedom to play!
