Volunteer programme at Las Canadas, Mexico is a rare opportunity to live in an authentic, congruent ecovillage on 600 acres of land in the cloud forest bio-region of Mexico. Extensive learning opportunity with residents committed to bio-intensive organic gardening and farming, ecological lifestyle and regeneration of the natural cloud forest on their This 600 plus acre village includes a dairy, cheese factory, reforestation areas, a cloud forest, eco-tourism centre, elementary school, bio-intensive gardens and wonderful views of local mountains including a snow-topped volcano. Lodging is available in dormitory style rooms. There is no electricity in the rooms. There are solar heated showers, composting toilets, delicious meals and pure mountain spring water. Food is vegetarian, and most of it is grown on site.
Highlights:
I don't think I have ever encountered another more authentic commitment to the whole ecovillage life style and ethos than at Las Canadas. I learned more there about how to practice all the theories about permaculture, bio-intensive gardening, organic farming and ecological living than I ever could have imagined.
Qualifications:
No special qualifications but an interest to learn about organic farming, gardening and ecological lifestyle is essential.
