Description:
Do you want to experience the wonders of Africa's wildlife and learn more about conservation, then come join other volunteers at the Esengeni Game Reserve based near Port Elizabeth in South Africa. This is an exciting 4 week placement aimed at educating people worldwide about the importance of conservation and how to manage wildlife in its natural environment. Shumba volunteers will visit various private reserves for game drives and to learn about wildlife tracking. Volunteers are taught South African conservation history, learn about ecotourism management, as well as being involved in local culture by assisting at schools and in the community. Help at the Born Free Sanctuary, feeding lions and leopards, maintaining enclosures or getting involved with educational visits. A maximum of 8 people can be accommodated, in tents hidden under the canopy of wild olives and are situated a short distance from 2 fully equipped bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers. All meals are provided with a western style menu.
