Description:
CPCS provides free education to street children and encourages them to participate as much as possible. Most staff are volunteers and are not experienced or well educated. Simply having English as a first language is a huge asset for a volunteer here where they can help teach the staff and the target group English as well as many other subjects. Volunteers working along side the local staff and local volunteers will transfer their knowledge to both the children and the staff. Sometimes volunteers add attention and excitement, encouraging more children to participate in these education programs. 80 staff work with over 500 kids per day both on the street and at the shelter.
Highlights:
- This is a less conventional, non-formal setting for teaching the street children - Teaching English to both the children and the staff - Teaching computers/Math/Physical Education/Drama/Art - Tutoring and helping children with homework - The staff of the CPSC could use training with accounting, office management and administration etc
Qualifications:
A mature and strong person capable with dealing with troubled kids who may resist help. Understanding and empathetic. Energetic, dynamic and fun with a youth age group. Sincere. It would help to be somewhat self motivated and not afraid to suggest and help develop programs.

Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support.
Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
