Description: Volunteering, one of the pillars of philanthrophy is a powerful factor in social service. We invite volunteers from UK/USA/Australia/Canada/Europe for teaching English, dance, music and other extra curriclum in our nursery and primary school and in the children's home (orphanage) in our hometown Virudhunagar.

The purpose of this position is to improve the English skill and other extra curriculum like dance, music of the kids in our school and in the orphanage.

The age group of the students is between 2 years to 9 years. The working hours will be from 9 AM to 3.30 PM in the school and from 4.30 PM to 6 PM in the orphanage Monday through Friday and on Saturdays and Sundays, the volunteers can go out on weekend trips to many tourist spots like hill stations and beaches.

So many volunteers from abroad have successfully participated in this sector and gained practical knowledge of Indian education system and position of children.

Homely food with packaged drinking water, neat accommodation with western type bath rooms will be provided to the volunteers.

Since we are not getting any outside financial assistance, stay charges will be received from the volunteers as below towards the above amenities. The charges also include pickup cost from the Madurai airport.

Broadband internet browsing facility and phone facility are available on payment basis.

The volunteers can fly to Chennai from their countries and from Chennai, domestic flights are operated to Madurai. In the Madurai airport, the volunteers will be received by us.

Our past volunteers really enjoyed the volunteering and mingling with the family members, attending local functions and ceremonies can not be forgotten ever by the volunteers. The selection is through email only after getting short resume also through e.mail.

Highlights: Volunteers can get first hand practical knowledge of educational system in India. The highlight of our volunteering placement is that the volunteers from abroad will be taught yoga in our school for one hour or more.

Unity Charitable Trust's Mission Statement: Unity Charitable Trust is a registered charitable organization for the welfare of the poor, the disabled, the orphaned children and the depressed women. The organization also includes a Women's Self-Help Group holding effective and efficient training programs for the development of entrepreneurship among the local women. We are also placing foreign volunteers into local projects for them to get first hand knowledge of Indian culture, customs, education and so on. Our projects include a Nursery and primary school, and a computer literacy centre.
