Description:
Poverty, social division, and superstitious beliefs victimize thousand of women in India. In many cases, it also threatens their lives by making them vulnerable to anti-social elements. Most of these women are from poor family, divorced, and uneducated. In Delhi, different social organizations are working to protect these women and bring them into the mainstream of life by giving them informal education (also called an adult literacy program) and working on skill development trainings in craft and arts. You can work in this kind of project aimed to improve the situation of women. As a volunteer, you can teach English, teach any other skills that you think might be useful for their livelihood. Many volunteers working in women development projects also help the local organizations in their administrative works like writing proposals, reports, or surveys. There are various ways to support these women who have been neglected by the society. It is helpful for the volunteers to learn some Hindi language, so our volunteer program also tailors a one week Language and Cultural Immersion Program to learn the basic language and about Indian culture and lifestyle. The LAC is optional and runs in the first week after your arrival and before the start of your volunteer commitment. The LAC includes guided excursions to local villages, markets and other areas of interest.

Institute For Field Research Expeditions's Mission Statement: The mission of our volunteer abroad program is to offer meaningful volunteer abroad opportunities for volunteers and to seek sustainable solutions for education, health, conservation, and development issues through international volunteering. We hope to achieve this goal by offering community orientated volunteer programs where the efforts of our volunteers go directly to the poor people and their communities.
Many grass-root organizations working in developing countries are poor in resources. These organizations are doing a commendable job to address development, education, health, and conservation issues by launching a variety of programs but these organizations are in a great need of help and support. IFRE promotes these local organizations by making donations and sending volunteers.
