Description:
Extreme poverty, growing problems of HIV/AIDS, and different social problems make many kids orphans in Ghana. These lovely kids are in urgent need of parental help and support. In Ghana, IFRE partners have started an orphanage and street children program to protect these kids by offering room/food and education. Unfortunately, Most of these orphanages are resource poor, under staffed, and are facing lots of problems to run their programs. Help is needed in everything from cooking and serving food to the children, to assisting with their basic education with sports and English lessons.
Highlights:
The orphanage requires extra pairs of hands to help with the day-to-day running of the project, so you will be expected to assist with cleaning, cooking and serving food to the children. You will also help to provide a basic education for the children, by organising Physical Education / Sports lessons and teaching English. You may also be required to assist the staff in counselling the children. The job responsibilities of orphanage volunteers in Ghana depend on the need of the orphanage as well as the skills and interests of the volunteers. In some occasion volunteers teach English in a school where volunteers go for education.
Qualifications:
There are no specific qualifications required for the orphanage project in Ghana. However, volunteers interested to work for orphans must have love for the kids and willingness to share their time and compassion with patience and high flexibility.

Institute For Field Research Expeditions's Mission Statement: The mission of our volunteer abroad program is to offer meaningful volunteer abroad opportunities for volunteers and to seek sustainable solutions for education, health, conservation, and development issues through international volunteering. We hope to achieve this goal by offering community orientated volunteer programs where the efforts of our volunteers go directly to the poor people and their communities.
Many grass-root organizations working in developing countries are poor in resources. These organizations are doing a commendable job to address development, education, health, and conservation issues by launching a variety of programs but these organizations are in a great need of help and support. IFRE promotes these local organizations by making donations and sending volunteers.
