Description:
This project has been going on for 3 years now in the town of San Francisco just north of Tortuguero. Every Thursday classes are given for one hour to the school children (ages 6-12 years) to try to increase environmental awareness in the community. The classes are conducted in Spanish and weekly lessons are planned as well as out of school activities with the children and some small projects.
Highlights:
Involvement in the local community, the chance to practise spanish and work at educating the local people.
Qualifications:
Those interested in this opportunity should be fluent in Spanish and have experience in dealing with children between 6 -16 years of age.

Cost Include Description:
The price of your stay covers the cost of food and lodging at the Cano Palma Biological Station. It also provides access to the use of canoes, kayaks and trail system of the biological station.

Typical Volunteer: Most volunteers have no background in the field and we provide all the training necessary for them to accomplish the required work. They are usually open to new experiences and enjoy working outdoors. Some are looking to change their current job situation and want to try something new, while others are looking to gain experience in the field for related work.
