Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks

Description:
Brazil, originally colonized by Portugal, is by far the largest country in South America. It is a country diverse in culture, landscape and style. The country is covered by dense Amazon rainforest in the north and central regions. The coastal regions of Brazil offer some of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the world. Each city in Brazil has its own unique character ranging from the modern capital of Brasilia to the tourist capital of Rio de Janeiro to the port city of Maceio. In Brazil you can volunteer in 3 different cities, all with their own identity and atmosphere. Would you want to live in exuberant and impressive Rio de Janeiro, the typical Brazilian port town of Maceio or would you feel more at home in Salvador with its Caribbean flair? Projects range from teaching English as a second language at inner-city schools to helping the underprivileged at community centers, being a role model for street children or accompany kids to their treatments at the cancer hospital. Whatever you choose to do, you'll notice that the Brazilians are a strong, driven people that maintain a positive outlook on life and can laugh and dance even under the most strenuous circumstances.

AmeriSpan Study Abroad's Mission Statement: Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs.
Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
