Description: Volunteering at Farming Communities

This cultural immersion program is developed in the Peruvian highlands where people speaks Quechua and Spanish. We set up this program with the aim to settle a rural network of alternative tourism in Peru.
The goal of this project is to bring people from around the world to experience life in small farming communities.
This project seeks to provide an alternative source of income for farmers and to promote cross-cultural understanding.

* What kind of skills do I need?
Able to live in basic conditions, self-sufficient, tolerant and open minded.

* Your Role as a Volunteer
Volunteers will help in diverse duties, among their main activities are planting and harvesting crops, installing irrigation and delivering animals. Furthermore, you can teach English lessons to the local community.
Optionally you can help the family in activities such weaving, dyeing and building houses.

* Working Hours:
This program may involves full day work commitment, schedule vary day to day.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to apply for our volunteer program.

Volunteers should be physically fit for this project and should be prepared to live without modern amenities, such as internet and regular hot water. This project is ideal for volunteers who are seeking to immerse themselves into the community and to really experience what life is like in the Andes. Volunteers should not expect luxury or home comforts. Rather, they should expect to be flexible, tolerant, and open-minded.

Cost Include Description:
What's included in the program fee?

* Three meals a day: The program fee covers three daily local meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Monday to Saturday.
* Home-stay accommodation: Volunteers will stay with a host family in a single or shared room (depending on availability).
* Pick up: With Lima city exception pick up from the bus terminal or the airport is included in all other locations.

We have a very affordable Lima pick up packet, please read below.

* Support of local coordinator: From the very beginning to the end of the project, Awaiting Angels coordinator will help volunteers by supporting them and regularly visiting them.
* Information Packet: Awaiting Angels offers detailed information on issues that will concern volunteers, such as health, safety, and cultural shock.
* Orientation: Upon arrival in your location, participants are met at the airport or bus station and taken to the home of their host family. There you will receive an orientation that will familiarize you with the local area, the Peruvian culture, and your program.
* Recommendation letter
