Description:
Silva Project volunteers have the opportunity to work for both environmental and social causes. Program participants can work with our herd of endangered horses, on our organic farm or at a dog shelter connected to the program. We currently offer 3 volunteer options: * Equestrian Volunteer: works with our herd of horses or our children's riding program * Organic Farm Volunteer: works on our organic kiwi farm and towards the construction of a new equestrian center * Dog Shelter Volunteer: works at the shelter located near the organic farm, taking care of the dogs and finding them homes The Silva Project recruits farm and equestrian volunteers on a rolling basis, but we are currently focusing on applications for the summer and fall of 2008.
Highlights:
Volunteers stay at the beautiful Villa Silva, just outside Corfu Town. The gated estate spans 25 seaside acres and has a beach, equestrian facilities, gardens and walking paths. Interns live and eat together with the director of the Silva Project and have many opportunities to build friendships and life-long connections that bridge generations and cultures.
Qualifications:
The Silva Project looks for highly motivated, creative individuals to take part in our volunteer programs. Previous experience in the area of your work assignment (equestrian, agriculture) is preferred.
Cost in US$: Volunteers are charged no fees by the Silva Project, but are responsible for their transportation to and from Corfu and for outside expenses.
Salary / Pay: Room & board including meals is provided for all volunteers and interns.
Experience Required: no
Typical Volunteer: Silva Project volunteers are a creative, flexible and interesting group. They are mostly recent university graduates or current students, and share a passion for working with people and animals.
Age Range: Volunteers must be 21+
