Description: Volunteer at an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh. As a volunteer, you will primarily assist the staff at the orphanage with English and basic math classes. You would also be free to do things like play games, arts & crafts, music, dance, and organize sports as well. You can also help the kids with homework, play sports, take them down the road for walks, and generally just get to know and care for them. Volunteers are also welcome to organize some daytrips on Sundays and holidays for the children.

Although the country's war history is remembered by locals and those abroad, Vietnam is a peaceful place looking to the future. The country has enjoyed economic growth since the government's Doi Moi reforms in the 1980's, while the culture is strongly influenced by Buddhism and Confucianism with strong emphasis on the family.

Vietnam has abundant and diverse natural beauty to explore. You can visit the mountains, beaches, jungles, and river deltas in a number of ways, like by bus, train, bicycle, or on foot. There are also a wide range of day trips you can do from the city. Remember to drink plenty of water though, because Vietnam is tropical with an average humidity around 85%.
