Build dance and art centers on Brazil's coast (Salvador)
Brazil
Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: multiple start dates available year round
Description:
If you are a "Jack of all Trades", then this is an ideal opportunity to combine building with the arts. Based in the historic city of Salvador, you will be able to get your hands dirty assisting with the building of an arts and dance centre. For the nimble and quick-footed there may also be possibilities to participate in creative dance and music activities. You could find yourself warming up with the Afro Brazilian's samba reggae musical beat or limbering up with the Capoeira Angola dancers. Whatever you find yourself doing, the focus of the projects is to provide opportunities to the youth from poor communities to develop their citizenship through the traditional arts. You will be working on building facilities such as a library and a new room where artistic activities can be developed. You will also have the opportunity to be involved with English workshops, develop activities in dance and music, and attend capoeira classes together with the children and youth beneficiaries of the project.
