Description:
The project takes place in Wenchang, about 70 km away from the main city of Haikou on Hainan Island. Wenchang town consist of a closely related community with a rich culture. The project dates are as follows: March 10 - March 23, 2008 March 17 - March 30, 2008 March 24 - April 6, 2008 March 31 - April 13, 2008 April 7 - April 20, 2008 April 14 - April 27, 2008 April 21 - May 4, 2008 May 5 - May 18, 2008 May 19 - June 1, 2008 June 9 - June 22, 2008 June 16 - June 29, 2008 June 23 - July 6, 2008 July 7 - July 20, 2008 July 14 - July 27, 2008 July 28 - August 10, 2008 August 11 - August 24, 2008 August 25 - September 7, 2008 September 8 - September 21, 2008 September 15 - September 28, 2008 October 6 - October 19, 2008 October 13 - October 26, 2008 October 20 - November 2, 2008 October 27 - November 9, 2008 November 3 - November 16, 2008 November 10 - November 23, 2008 November 17 - November 30, 2008 November 24 - December 7, 2008 December 1 - December 14, 2008 December 8 - December 21, 2008 December 15 - December 28, 2008 During the project, the international participants will work together with other volunteers and local students of different ages. The main activities consist of: - Developing friendship between the participants and the local students and teachers. - Visiting schools around Wenchang town. - Teaching English with the local English teachers. - Learning Chinese and local language. - Taking part in some sport games with the students. Along with teaching the local students English, it is very important to let them meet friends from other parts of the world, thus giving them a chance to expand their horizons. Activities during the weekend will be going to the beach near Wenchang, visiting the cultural temples, etc. There is an extra fee of 1.500 Rmb (about $190 US) for participation in this workcamp, intended to support the hosting organization.
