Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: Year-Round

Description: The program runs year-round and you can start on any Monday. You'll spend the first 4 weeks of your stay taking 20 hours of Spanish language instruction per week at one of Cuzco's leading language schools. After the educational program, you'll move onto the 4-week prearranged project of your choice in or near Cuzco.

The Language School

The language school is located in a colonial building just one block from the main square (the Plaza de Armas) and is equipped with 25 multimedia classrooms, a spacious meeting room and a sunny terrace. From the school's doorstep, you can enjoy the view of the Andes, and the famous Inca ruins and magical city of Machu Picchu are a short trip away. Small class sizes of no more than 6 students and an interactive teaching method that focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills allows students to develop confidence in both the written and spoken language.

Your Volunteer Project

After successfully completing the 4-week language course, you will continue with the volunteer project of your choice for 4 weeks and will participate in a one-day workshop to train you for the work you will be doing. Most projects are located in Cuzco but there are also some further south in Arequipa. Opportunities include helping students with language lessons, participating in an after-school program, helping the homeless, working in a hospital, working on a conservation project, or providing support work in a travel or tourism business.

The city itself is indian in character, features open markets, adobe houses, and narrow, winding cobblestone streets. Nearby attractions include the archeological wonders of Machu Picchu.
