Micro Credit Mechanisms Volunteer in Ghana
Ghana
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks and 3-6 months
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: throughout the year
Description:
Village Exchange International requires the help of an individual with experience in the field of microcredit schemes. The volunteer's job will be to help VEI increase the efficiency of its loans by revising loan structures, methods of guarantee, of electing beneficiaries, running workshops in business planning and all other steps involved in the loan granting and monitoring process. As a micro credit volunteer, a two to three week stay would mean setting up a new loan. This would involve the assessment and selection of candidates, organizing workshops on writing business plans, reviewing business plans and contributing ideas for the future of VEI's micro credit projects. A two to three month placement, whilst also involving setting up new loans, would enable you to contribute profoundly to improving our micro credit scheme strategies. It would incorporate monitoring the loan process and initial loan reimbursements, critically reviewing VEI's long-term loan strategy, and defining new schemes and value-added products.
