Description: Help on the Way volunteers in Costa Rica have several program options to choose from. Most projects and homestays are rural and/or isolated with other volunteers amongst the natural beauty of this country. Projects provided focus on environmental conservation, animal welfare, community development and teaching English. These projects offer first hand opportunities to enrich the environmental awareness and livelihood of this country. Our partner is continually assessing local needs and individual volunteer strengths to provide the most mutually rewarding experience. These placements offer the opportunity to learn about Costa Rica's culture, biodiversity, socio-economic challenges and its environmental policies regarding protected wildlife and natural resources. These programs truly offer an "eye opening" educational experience on many different levels.

You will learn why many believe this country is Central America at its best. Beaches and volcanoes galore, lush tropical forests, political stability, a friendly population and extraordinary bio-diversity. Still, underneath its surface, lies a country in need of help. This indigenous community is drastically diminishing. Behind the glamour of Costa Rica's tourism lies much poverty, and as a result, many children without the resources necessary to develop a better way of life. Even the biological richness and diversity of this stereotypical paradise are severely threatened. Here is the opportunity to join forces with a people committed to the progress of the planet, its country, its people, its creatures and its natural wonders.
