Cape Coast School for the Deaf is looking for a wide range of volunteers, from teachers to laborers. The school aims to give formal education to hearing-impaired children in Ghana. Cape Coast School for the Deaf seeks to equip its students with basic literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills. Furthermore it teaches its students important skills such as carpentry, farming, and dressmaking, enabling the students to be participants in the socio-economic life of this developing nation. Cape Deaf is amazing, such a happy, vibrant and positive school. Cape Deaf requires the following volunteers: - Grounds men: Someone to help with the upkeep of the grounds, farmland and animals. A strong interest in sport and a willingness to work with the children is required. - A classroom assistant: Needed to help supervise the children and check their work. Ideally the volunteer would have working knowledge of sign-language and an interest in teaching. - A library assistant: Required to supervise and check the issuing of books and putting systems in place to make the library more efficient. It is also hoped that the volunteer could help find donors in the developed world who are willing to give books to the school. Volunteers should be organized and willing to help. - Carpenters and Builders: Needed to help in the building of the new library and the upkeep of the school. Volunteers should have experience in either of these areas.
