Creating a movie production and organizing the Festival of short movies in Sao Joaninho

Description: The Parish Social Centre of S. Joaninho is a social solidarity institution, created in 1999. The Centre has as its main mission the complete promotion of the whole parish, cooperating with other public services and institutions in a true spirit of human, Christian and social solidarity. In practical terms, its mission aims the satisfaction of the social needs of all inhabitants of Sao Joaninho village, although it may be extended to other villages and communities as well. They carry out a diverse amount of activities, such as: support to young people in terms of organisation and orientation of free time activities; vocational and professional orientation and practice of sports; social assistance to all of those who may need it in collaboration with health care institutions; social support to old people, through lodging, feeding, medical care and assistance in an old people's home; support to local active population, through social and cultural development programs; development of cultural, educational and recreational activities.

The theme of the international volunteer project is about preservation and valuing the historical and cultural human heritage, the assumption and the consciousness of its vital importance and contribution to the preservation of the cultural identity of the region. The work part of this project is constituted of 5 working hours per day, of training, pictures/images collecting and organisation of the Festival of short movies called CURTES. The methodology of collecting information and its preservation through time consists of making short movies, where the participants of the project, together with other youngsters of the village, will show their personal ideas about The Village and its People. The participants on this project will benefit, totally free of charge, of special training, under the format of Technical Workshops of Video and Multimedia. With these technical workshops they will get training on new technologies of information and digital methods to enable them to produce a short movie that will be exhibited on the Festival CURTES, under the general theme of The Village and its People, on July 12th and 13th.
