Dates: On going

Description: Poor rural Thai and Lao schools have classes of 30- 70 (in Laos) children!

And they often lack the most essential teaching material to learn English and other subjects.

Creative volunteers wanted!

The objective is to develop simple and cheap learning material suitable for volunteers and teachers.

Children don't really get a fair chance to learn for their future! But volunteers can help, not only by teaching but also by creating and bringing teaching material and helping teachers to use them! So bring ideas and learning material from your home country!

You will stay some time with Openmindprojects staff in our own houses in Nongkhai and most of time at the school, living with a teacher family.

Pre Departure preparations and information by our staff with teaching experience: Teaching material ideas, Country and culture information, Thai language, teaching and volunteer advice, including travel information.

Two day in country Orientations for new volunteers in Thailand, twice a month in the North and twice a month in the South: Language and teaching training, cross culture information, welcome dinner with questions and answers, CD ROM documentation to bring to volunteer placements.

Open mind projects's Mission Statement: Open Mind Projects is a bridge to knowledge and cross-cultural understanding, bridging digital and knowledge divides between rich and poor. Open Mind Projects arranges placements for international volunteers to schools, Orphan Homes, other institutions and projects, in Thailand and Laos. Open Mind Projects cooperates with these schools and institutions with learning ideas, technology and international volunteers. Schools and other learning/youth institutions in developing nations are understaffed and under resources. New information technology and international volunteers help offset this advantage. Open Mind Projects wants to facilitate valuable cross-cultural experience, personal development, for volunteers and local childeren and students. An opportunity to learn about other cultures while making local and international friends, within an affordable backpacker budget.
