Work/Exchange Program
United States
Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: open all year long
Description:
This peaceful 7 acre organic farm was designed by permaculture expert Douglas Bullock. We are in our first year of development, so we need workers who have previous experience with developing a new site and have taken at least the foundation course in permaculture. We are ecologically responsible, and environmentally sensitive. Solar and hydroelectric generation provide all our electrical power and hot water. All facilities and grounds at Kokolulu Farm and Wellness Centre are smoke-free. Organic food is supplied from Kokolulu's own orchards and gardens, or from local organic growers. Vegetarian meals are served. Some private rooms and campsites are available. We require volunteers to work 30 hrs per week. The work is hard, but very rewarding. Because we are a wellness center we ask that volunteers be respectful of those going through our residential treatment program.
Highlights:
KoKoLuLu Farm and Wellness Center, Hawi on the Island of Hawaii The spectacular North Kohala coast location, where trade winds deliver some of the cleanest air in the world, is an area that is rich in sacred sites and cultural heritage that lead to healing the soul and offer magnificent hiking and bicycling opportunities. The near-by villages of Hawi and Kapaau are within walking distance. The Dragon Water Gardens or the Chinese Temple offer an ideal setting for stress reduction and contemplation for improved self-awareness and self-care. Each morning we do yoga, qigong, or other healing exercises. Many beaches are located just 15-30 minutes away.
