Description:
The host is a local environmental organization in a suburb of Seoul. They have promoted the protection of the local mountain from environmental disruption since 1994. They have regular environmental education classes for local people and kids in the mountain school and a local park. There are many fireflies in the mountain so the volunteers participating in this project will help the studies about fireflies such as catching and counting them. Volunteers will also do manual work to renovate the facilities of the school. They will take part in the weekend environmental education class as sub-teachers for kids and families in the local park. Volunteers will teach and show examples there, such as making a flute and animals in the nature with flowers and tree leaves and so on, after they have learnt how to make it themselves. They will also experience the traditional nature dying and encounter with many local people. The volunteer project will take place in Bundang, Sungnam city, Gyeonggido. It is 20 km away from Seoul.
Qualifications:
Volunteers who are interested in environmental education on local level are welcome.
