Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks and 3-6 months
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Set departure dates throughout the year

Description: Travel to an exotic peninsula in Kenya bordering the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. Work with dolphins, primates and big game and live on the secluded island of Wasini off the coast of Shimoni, a remote fishing village in East Africa. Discover both the African Savannah and the Indian Ocean as an active member of a GVI research team studying the biodiversity of the region and working with local communities to assist them in benefiting from their natural resources in a sustainable manner. Learn about oceanography and observe dolphins, humpback whales and manta rays. Assist local and international researches in wildlife monitoring including primates such as the vulnerable Colobus monkeys. Gain bush tracking skills and learn new survey techniques and then spend a week with the Kenya Wildlife Service for some classic up-close big game encounters. Finally take part in a forest night-walk and enjoy a night camping out under the African skies. In your free time, learn some Swahili, play football with the local children, and enjoy sundowners as the sun sets over the Savannah. Expedition members are needed for 5, 10 and 15 weeks. Expedition members have the opportunity to apply for a free internship.
