Description: Pre med students, doctors, nurses, or volunteers with experience working in the health industry, are all needed to assist with the daily activities in the local community health center. The only free facility for the indigent people in Tanauan has just one doctor to serve the entire community from the 54 barangays, so the assistance of medical volunteers is greatly needed. Volunteers will assist the doctor and get hands on practice working and interacting with the patients. In addition, they will learn about the health care conditions here in the Philippines. Some days will be spent in the health center and other days the volunteer will treat patients in the surrounding barangays. Volunteers must currently be studying or have finished studying in the health industry.

Volunteer for the Visayans is a recently established NGO that places volunteers in short term volunteer projects. We are focused on educating our foreign volunteers about the unique culture of the Philippines while they take the opportunity to immerse themselves and interact with our local communities through volunteering. All we ask is that our volunteers come with an open mind and are motivated to help others.

Volunteer for the Visayans accommodates volunteers for as short as two weeks and up to six months. We can accommodate volunteers who have a two week break and are looking for an alternative vacation. All our volunteers are placed with host families, and interact with the local communities to see first hand what it is like to live with the locals in the Philippines. If you really want to help with a project or make an impact on the communities here, we recommend volunteering for at least a month.

Qualifications: - Volunteers must be independent and open-minded.
- Volunteers must be willing to experience a different culture
- Volunteers must be a medical student or have experience working as a doctor or nurse in the health industry
