Description: Eco-volunteer UP works with the unprivileged children in orphanages the city of Quito, Ecuador. In the last two decades, population has doubled in Ecuador with growing incidences of abandoning children and teenager mothers in the street or hospitals. Most of these abandoned children are from poor indigenous families. Growing poverty, lack of education and limited governmental resources further worsen the problem of street children and orphans in Ecuador. In the capital city of Quito, our local partners initiated wonderful efforts to protect the life of these vulnerable kids from further exploitation. In these projects, there is need of volunteers who are willing to share their efforts and love for children.

Volunteer in Ecuador orphanage project volunteers will help these unprivileged kids by teaching basic English or Spanish. Volunteer also help by feeding, caring for, and simply playing with these very young children. Without this affordable orphanage project, many of these children would be abandoned and homeless. Volunteers also help in developing creative programs art, music, dance, sports, etc. Additional helps on day trip, sanitation, cooking, and administrative might be requested. One of the most wonderful opportunities that work on orphanage give you this chance to share your love, skill, and efforts for poor children.

Highlights: The volunteers of the project will experience a different culture, and will learn or improve their Spanish language. The volunteers will receive a certificate at the end of the program. This is truly a wonderful experience.

Cost in US$: $ 150 per week

Program Fees for Quito cover: Orientation and support during the time you are volunteering, pick up airport, three meals per day, and accommodations with a host family.

Program Fees in Cloud Forest cover: Orientation and support during the time you are volunteering, pick up airport, transfer from the Eco Volunteer UP office to the bus station, three meals per day, and accommodations.

Experience Required: no

Typical Volunteer: A person who really wants to help the poor children or who likes working in the Cloud Forest to know different cultures.

Age Range: from 18 years old to 60 years old

Eco-Volunteer Urcu Puyujunda's Mission Statement: Urcu Puyujunda is an organization designed to help people and disappearing Cloud Forest near Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Our main objective is to help the children, who are the future of the country, especially those with the fewest economic resources. Urcu Puyujunda is also involved in conservation of 'mother-earth' (pacha-mama), and is working to save the planet one step at a time. There are many orphanages, special Institute for disabled children, they need help, so the volunteers who are interested in these projects are very welcome.
