Description: Global Crossroad's marvelous Mini-Escape Nepal Volunteer Program offers the opportunity to explore the mystical beauty of this mountainous dreamscape while making a positive impact in the lives of the poorest children of Nepal. A fascinating home stay with a rural Nepali family makes our Mini-Escape a way of life and not a typical tourist experience.

For the first 10 days, our volunteers work in our Global Crossroad-supported orphanage engaging disadvantaged children in a variety of educational and creative activities. In the final 4 days of the Nepal Mini-Escape, our volunteers join a Himalayan trekking team as it passes under the shadow of the mighty mountain landscape and through vistas of natural beauty. Our Mini-Escape Nepal Program also features a one-day guided tour of the renowned city of Kathmandu, hiking through rural villages, and cultural orientation. Through Global Crossroad's unique Mini-Escape Nepal, volunteers will view this captivating country through the eyes of its hospitable people.

Day 1: Global Crossroad orientation at the Kathmandu office. Orientation covers children's issues, field conditions, host family or anticipated living conditions, safety issues, climate expectations, working projects, and related topics.

Immediately following the orientation, our staff will lead you through a tour of the cultural city of Kathmandu. Our visits will cover most of the famous tourist, cultural, and religious sites in Nepal.

Day 2: Immediately after breakfast, volunteers will leave for their projects. Introductions will be held with orphans, staff, and host families.

Days 3-6: Share your love and enthusiasm with the orphans. In your free time, explore the wonders of rural Nepal its natural beauty, its intriguing culture, and its spirited people. Our local field staff will assist you in pointing out sites that are off the beaten path.

Day 7: Our one-day village hiking program allows you to discover the delightful village life of Nepal, have a small picnic with the area's children, and enjoy a riveting Nepali cultural program.

Days 8'9: Work continues with orphaned children. You will find that your support and encouragement of Nepal's orphans will be the most enriching part of your Nepali adventure.

Himalayan Trekking (4 Days)

Day 10-13: Join a group for adventurous Himalayan trekking on the awe-inspiring Annapurna trail. As you trek, uncover the beauty of the legendary Himalayas, its imposing landscape, and its enduring ethnic villages.

Day 14: Return to your project where you will bid a fond farewell to the children, staff, and host family you have come to love. Also, you will receive a certificate for your volunteer assistance.
