Description:
An overwhelming number of Nepalese never receive proper health care. Many of the state's health centers in rural areas are inadequately staffed. Global Crossroad assembles compassionate volunteer groups to help alleviate this problem in an effort to boost the quality of health care for disadvantaged Nepali people. Nepal has one of the lowest life expectancy rate, while infant mortality rate is very high and patients don't go for general health check until the disease is at an advanced stage because either checkups are too expensive and you have to travel far for health centers. Join our Nepal program now and bring health care at the doorsteps of ordinary people. You'll help local doctors and nurses, who are often overwhelmed by the number of patients they receive.
Highlights:
Volunteers in Global Crossroad's Nepal Health Project assist local doctors and medical staff in the treatment of patients. Also, volunteers may participate in such hospital programs as record keeping, sanitation, nutrition, or treatment of minor injuries. Interested volunteers must have certification or proof of experience in a medical field, such as a medical student ID, EMT or paramedic certification, or nursing or physician's credentials. Due to the health risks involved, volunteers who are not properly trained in health care cannot work in this area.
