Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 9-12 weeks
Dates: all year round

Description: This wonderful 2 week Mini-Adventure/volunteer in Honduras project takes you on an off-the-beaten path adventure in the most beautifully untouched country in Central America. In this service and eco-odyssey combined project, you will first work with orphaned children in activities designed to present educational opportunities and loving care to the orphans. In the last 4 days, you will enjoy the beauty and mystery of Honduras by joining different programs such as white water rafting, canopy visit, bird watching, ethnic village visits, and exploration of La Ceiba and the surrounding area.

Proposed Schedule

Day 1: Volunteers arrive in La Ceiba, met at the airport by our coordinator or local staff and go directly to your host family. Spend the rest of the day with the family in order to get to know each other and rest from flight.

Day 2: Join orientation session in morning. Orientation covers safety issues, advice on what to do in your free time or weekends, information about your host family, small introduction of ongoing projects, and required notices about living conditions, meals, climate, field topics, and what to expect in the community you are going to volunteer.

Day 3-10: Work in orphanage (or an alternative project of your choice). Volunteer tasks will include teaching English, and other activities such as sanitation, painting, singing, and organizing games and lessons.
