Description:
Social violence and poverty in Peru have left many children behind, depriving them of the parental love and care they deserve. This Volunteer Peru project aspires to change that situation by providing a secure and caring alternate home. The orphanages in Peru support and protect these children, providing food and accommodations in a comforting atmosphere. But these orphanages are underfunded and understaffed and need your help. Volunteers will mainly help provide educational opportunities and boundless love for the children.
Highlights:
Depending on their skills and interests, volunteers can teach English, lead the children in songs, music, dance, or other activities, teach cooking or handicrafts, act as a mentor, and generally just spend quality time with the children. Your help for these children gives them an opportunity for a better life in the future. Your assistance also keeps these children off the streets and out of trouble, so they have a chance to grow up to be happy, productive citizens as adults.
